SoundID VoiceAI Release Notes

Release notes for 1.0.4

Date of release: 16 April 2024

This update focuses on UX improvements and preset quality.

Bug fixes and improvements

The quality of various voice presets has been improved.

Fixed an issue where the transpose knob did not retain its previous setting when switching between presets, ensuring it now correctly maintains the last processed value across preset selections.

Resolved an issue where the processed audio from a previously selected preset continued to play after selecting a new preset that does not have processed audio.

Fixed an issue where the processing status of the preset could be incorrect if the required cached audio was deleted.

Known Issues

The processing progress bar may get stuck at 79 percent for a few seconds, then continue moving

When changing the DAW's Sample Rate, previously captured/processed audio becomes desynchronized with the project. Although it is recommended not to change the Sample Rate, reverting to the original Sample Rate will fix the introduced audio offsets (if the change was accidental).

When a loop is active in the DAW and the playhead reaches the end of the loop, causing it to jump back to the beginning during a capture, this results in the capture becoming corrupted. To avoid this issue, it is recommended to disable the loop feature before starting the capture process.

If complete silence is present in the capture, the processed audio will contain some amount of noise with artifacts. If the background noise in the silence is noticeable, it is recommended to capture only where there is an audio signal and not to capture complete silence.

In Logic, if input monitoring is not active on the track, after 5 seconds of silence, capture will stop and be corrupted, and also the preview buttons will become unresponsive. To prevent these problems, it's advised to ensure less than 5 seconds of silence between clips and, for optimal plugin performance, input monitoring is enabled.

In Pro Tools, if Dynamic Plug-In Processing is enabled, the plugin may enter sleep mode after 5 seconds of complete silence, resulting in corrupted captured audio. In addition, this setting can cause preview buttons to become unresponsive after a similar period of silence. To prevent these problems, it's advised to ensure less than 5 seconds of silence between clips and, for optimal plugin performance, to turn off Dynamic Plug-In Processing in Playback Engine settings.

Release notes for 1.0.3

Date of release: 10 April 2024

This update is focused on a single bug fix.

Bug fixes

Fixed an issue that led to excessive CPU usage.

Known Issues

The transpose knob does not restore its last position when switching between presets and resets to the default value each time a preset is selected.

The processed audio of the previously selected preset will continue to play when a preset is selected for which there is no processed audio.

The processing progress bar may get stuck at 79 percent for a few seconds, then continue moving

Date of release: 09 April 2024

This is the first update following the initial release, containing bug fixes and improvements.

Improvements and bug fixes

Added the feature to apply the transpose parameter in numeric input using the Enter key.

Resolved an issue where the plugin became unresponsive after reaching its five-minute capture limit and users attempted to process or remove the capture.

Resolved an issue where the process button became unresponsive if the internet connection was interrupted right before starting processing.

Resolved an issue where the "Start Processing" button was unresponsive if there weren’t enough tokens available.

Addressed other minor issues with error messages.

Release notes for 1.0.1

Date of release: 08 April 2024

We are excited to introduce the first official release of SoundID VoiceAI, the first-of-its-kind DAW plugin that utilizes artificial intelligence to transform the human voice into something entirely different.

SoundID VoiceAI plugin released, formats: VST3, AU, AAX. Compatible with most common DAW's on Windows 10 or later and macOS 11.0 or later.

The plugin can be used by placing it in a DAW (preferably on a vocal track) and logging in with the user's Sonarworks account.

A single plugin instance can record up to 5 minutes of audio to be processed at a time. Multiple instances can be used simultaneously on different tracks. Click “Record” and launch DAW playback to record the audio from the track. The recorded audio fragment can be removed to allow the user to record a new clip.

Once the plugin has recorded audio, it can be processed using one of the presets. At launch, SoundID VoiceAI contains 23 vocal and 21 creative presets.

The presets can be previewed by clicking the “Preview” button which plays back a short sample of the preset.

The presets can be added to “Favorites” by clicking on the heart icon next to the preset name in the preset browser or in the active preset area.

Processing cost is expressed in “tokens”. New users can activate a trial period of 7 days, during which they can use 9000 free tokens (around 15 minutes of audio). Trial can be activated and new tokens can be purchased in the Sonarworks user account on the web.

Once the processing is complete, the user can enable or disable the processed audio to compare the results.

“Transpose” feature allows the user to change the register of the processed audio for more accurate and realistic results. The transpose value should be set before the processing. Users can transpose audio up or down by up to 48 semitones (4 octaves).

The user can see the input audio volume in the VU meters during audio playback.

The user can adjust the processed audio volume with the gain slider. Note that this will not affect the unprocessed audio volume for easier gain matching.

The user can find all recorded and processed audio wav files by clicking the “Browse audio cache folder” in the preferences view of the plugin.

To decouple the processing result from the plugin or to continue editing the processed audio or to just back it up, it is recommended to render the result to a new DAW track.

When changing the DAW's Sample Rate, previously captured/processed audio becomes desynchronized with the project. Although it is recommended not to change the Sample Rate, reverting to the original Sample Rate will fix the introduced audio offsets (if the change was accidental).

After the plugin reaches its five-minute capture limit, attempting to process or remove the capture can cause the plugin to become non-responsive. To resolve this issue and continue working, users must unload and then reload the plugin.

When a loop is active in the DAW and the playhead reaches the end of the loop, causing it to jump back to the beginning during a capture, this results in the capture becoming corrupted. To avoid this issue, it is recommended to disable the loop feature before starting the capture process.

If the internet connection is interrupted right before processing begins, when the user clicks "Start Processing", the plugin will display an error message. Despite the restoration of the internet connection, the process button may remain non-responsive. A potential workaround is to switch back and forth between several presets after the internet connection has been restored to resolve the issue.
